Course Project: ECE20007 Elec Engr Fundamentals I Lab: Audio Equalizer

I. Intro

Date: December 2021

In this project, we used filters and amplifiers to make an audio equalizer. All the details can be found in the report below. Since I am the lab TA right now, feel free to leave comments and ask questions.

III. Picture of the circuit.

IV. Tips

  1. Test each part separately.
  2. Organize your breadboard wisely. Don’t put everything in a small chunk.
  3. If R8, R9, R10 are >> than RV1, RV2, RV3, it could be difficult to control.
  4. Use combination of regular resistors and variable resistors to adjust the R8, R9, and R10 simultaneously to get a better result. With this method, I got the final output with in 3 mV of error (97.64mV – 100.39 mV).
  5. Use 7V on the power amplifier (LM386) to get the 400 mW output.
  6. The resistors in the filter should be less than 1000 ohms to avoid loading.
