Course Project: AT272 Lab 05 Left and Right Nose Ribs

I. Intro

Date: 09/25/2023

This time we were making left and right nose ribs with water-based release. The procedure was the same.

II. Procedure

Figure 1: demold
Figure 2: Apply liquid release three times

Again, we were getting 0 degrees plies. One of the TAs didn’t even know which two sides should be aligned. The more curvy side on the tool should be aligned with the long side of the ply. They didn’t tell us the key to place the ply on the mold, so we repeated again and again, which took us a lot of time.

Figure 3: Do you see how much flash tape she got? I bet that TA likes her. He did the same thing last time. When Yuwei was not around, he just pulled a long long piece for her.
Figure 4: mine was only about 2/3 of what she got. I had to use the tape from the mold.
Figure 5: Get into the bag. All of sudden, everyone’s vacuum bag was only getting -15 instead of -25. The only thing Yuwei said was “check this”, “check leaking”, and “check wrinkle” even the gauge was not moving. That means there was no leak. She didn’t even know the difference between leaking and not having enough suction because she didn’t want to admit that we were doing correctly (no leaking) and her statement “the vacuum system is working properly, check leaking” was wrong. Six or seven of us were getting -15 at the same time, and the gauges were not moving on any parts, and this only meant one thing.
